Online Vet Tech Program: Jefferson State Community College

The online veterinary technology program at Jefferson State Community College is an AVMA-accredited distance learning program. This program is best suited for unlicensed veterinary assistants who are already working full or part-time for a veterinarian, and would like to make the transition to licensed vet tech. It’s possible to enroll in this program if you are not an assistant, but you will need to find a clinic where you can work the required 20 hours per week under the supervision of a vet.

All of the classes in this program are conducted online, with the exception of the clinical hands-on portions of your coursework. These clinical skills will be performed in the animal clinic where you work. If your clinic does not have the ability to let you do certain tasks (like large animal patients), you’ll need to travel to the Jefferson State campus in Birmingham to complete these parts of your online degree.
